The Fault In Our Star

This is the last I promise.
(For today ;)

This book brought me to tears, left me in awe! Check it out, everybody!

Hazel Grace was a 16-years-old teenage girl who has been diagnosed with lung cancer and has been forced by her parents to attend a Cancer Kid Support Group. At first, she was reluctant to go to the support group, but she soon realized that it was a good idea. Then, she suddenly met 17-years-old boy named Augustus Waters–often called Gus–, an ex-basketball player and amputee. He was there to support their mutual friend, Isaac. Gus was a charming and witty boy. He has had osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, but he was cancer free after having his leg amputated.

Hazel and Gus embarked on a roller coaster ride of emotions, icluding love, sadness, and romance. They both loved to read a book named An Imperial Affliction –which Hazel recommended to Gus– and traveled to Amsterdam in search of Peter Van Houten, the author of the book. While on their trip, Gus broke some heartbreaking news to Hazel about his cancer has returned and spread everywhere, but he’ll fight his cancer for her. Then, it started to feel like both of their worlds fall apart around them. In the end of the story, Gus died and Hazel kept living her life knowing that till the end Gus was still in a deep love with her and used all of his last strength to care and think about her.

From this book, first I’ve learned that I definitely have to be grateful for having a health body. Thinking about other teens who have cancer and has spending their short life with the pressure of death is so horrible. But this book made me think that death is not so scary anymore if you spend your life by loving and being loved by other people. Spending time with someone you love, caring about each other, and willing to give everything to make them happy. That makes life beautiful so you’re not afraid to let it go.
